motion" can add tremendous value to your training. Improved
3-dimensional weather generation incorporates realistic
particle-based phenomena such as fog and haze allowing pilots
to acclimate to the vagaries of flying under low IFR conditions.
Climb through an overcast to VFR on top or negotiate a difficult
landing in reduced RVR. Students can practice taxi skills,
basic visual navigation skills, and unusual attitude IMC
recovery.
ELITE
"GenView™" and "RealView™" use actual satellite digital
elevation model (DEM) data to provide terrain features,
waterways, rivers, roads and railroad tracks. Even real-time
movement and display of the sun and moon are presented.
Both systems are capable of multiple scenery channels (views)
which can collectively provide a 180 degree or greater panoramic
view.
What
is the difference between GenView and RealView?
The DEM and 3-D weather in both is the same. The difference
lies in the quality of the texture rendering. GenView utilizes
generic scenery texturing with coincident visual/navigation
databases (including all airports) found in the standard
ELITE program. RealView is a "custom developed" visual database
product using highly detailed satellite imagery and enhanced
runway environments. Due to the level of detail, RealView
areas are generally much smaller than GenView (20 to 40k
square miles) and include up to 7 airports (per area) in
the base price. The advantage of RealView is the ability
to offer custom features to accommodate a wide range of
specialized VFR and IFR requirements.
Visual
(Image) Generators
Each external visual system is designed to provide the utmost
in stability assuring years of trouble-free use. At the
heart of each system is the custom-built ELITE Image
Generator. One Image Generator per channel (view) is
required and each is pre-configured and thoroughly tested
so installation is a breeze. Several different display technologies
can be used with the Image Generators to suit your specific
requirements. LCD projectors, monitors, and large flat-panel
plasma displays are the most common.
